I have been waiting for two weeks to show this cover to you- I can’t wait any longer!
MrJames has done it again. I LOVE this cover. It’s perfect: it cracks me up, and the details and quirkiness make me look a little closer. When I look closer, not only do I see something new to make me laugh, but I also find myself opened up to something new to think about.
Humor can be a great delivery system for deep thoughts and perspective shifts. I don’t know if it’s because laughing shakes up our nervous system — convincing our bodies and brains on a cellular level that we’re safe, so we can be open to new ideas — or if it just makes us more willing to drop our defenses and let some light in.
What I do know is that if this cover had a serious tone, I’d be less likely to keep looking at it and asking questions.
He’s also used imagery that resonates with our cultural experience — but it’s all mish-mashed and screwed up — breaking down our set expectations of what we think of when we think “holidays.”
Ok. And the pilgrim trolls around the Thanksgiving table are just so darn cute — and I’m not a troll person!
Thank you, MrJames, for gifting us with your talents once again and bringing a little more light and love into our day.
