As I was making my way through cancer treatment, I was shocked to see just how many people have a cancer diagnosis—and just how messy life gets for everyone while navigating it. Now that I am through with active treatment, I’m building something I needed but couldn’t find when I was first diagnosed and I’d love for you to join me.
The Cancer Chronicles Sanctuary—a raw, quirky, honest space for people navigating a cancer diagnosis and the people who love them.
The Mission
My Healing Comes First. That’s how I survived and actually thrived through treatment. That’s not easy in a world that constantly asks us to shrink, perform, or power through.
Over the past 14 months, I have been letting the “My healing comes first” concept begin with me by sharing my cancer journey in real time on my podcast, The Cancer Chronicles, and through my Substack, Jenni Tooley Presents.
Now I want to take everything cancer- and self-care related and organize it into a single searchable space on Substack called “The Cancer Chronicles Sanctuary.”
I’m not trying to cure cancer. I’m just trying to make it suck less.
Here's how you can help:
Make a donation on GoFundMe- your donation will encourage others to do likewise:)

Connect me with financial sponsors, orgs, bloggers, or humans who get it (Bonus if you have a solid “in”—I’d rather talk to a human than write another grant app from my toilet)
Warning: The Cancer Chronicles Sanctuary is definitely not approved by your hospital pamphlet rack. No sterile info or a five-step plan to Enlightened Cancer Warrior™ status here. More like a community library—free of charge—containing:
50+ Cancer Chronicles podcast episodes—honest, filter-free sharing from my own cancer journey in real time
Nearly 50 essays and posts from the middle of my own healing mess
Three hybrid zine-courses—Jenni-style printable and audio-based companions for each stage of the cancer journey. [COMING SOON]
Plus whatever comes next!
What we have to accomplish
Phase 1: Reorganizing, repurposing, and consolidating: duplicating all posts, creating a tag library, and creating a section
Phase 2: Outreach: sharing with carefully researched organizations and bloggers, guest spots on podcasts, exploring partnerships
Phase 3: Organic Growth and Moderation: allow the sanctuary its own life while keeping an eye on alignment to the mission
The Sanctuary will be 100% free and accessible to everyone. But to launch it right—and keep it alive—I need to create a sustainable setup that doesn’t burn me out before I even begin. A starting budget of $15,000 covers:
A calm, competent team to launch this while I heal including:
VA to migrate and tag nearly 100 podcast episodes and posts into the new section, organize categories and pages so people can find what they need when their brain is soup, research partnerships, and schedule appearances
Design & graphic help to create social tiles, zine headers, and collage magic that aligns with both my personal and Cancer Chronicles brands
Social media lover who can handle scheduling, engagement, repurposing my old posts with a fresh eye
Tech infrastructure & various fees
Hop on board however you can. Together we can make cancer suck a little bit less.
Love ya lots!
Jenni
